Clinical Psychologist

(HCPC, MSc and PsyD)

I am Dr Cieva Boyle, a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with nine years of clinical experience supporting adults experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties. I have worked across a variety of NHS settings, including community, outpatient, inpatient and primary care services, supporting people with both common and more complex mental health difficulties.

I work predominantly with adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD and trauma, OCD, panic, low self-esteem, emotional difficulties and neurodivergence, as well as people who may feel overwhelmed, stuck or find themselves struggling to understand why they feel or behave in certain ways.

I believe that therapy should feel like a collaborative process. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work with you to understand your individual experiences, what may be contributing to your difficulties and what you would like to be different. Together, we develop an understanding of your difficulties and identify practical and meaningful ways of moving forward.

My approach draws on a range of evidence-based psychological models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and other therapeutic approaches. I integrate these approaches according to your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit into a particular model.

I place a strong emphasis on creating a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable being open about your experiences. I know that reaching out for psychological support can feel daunting, and you don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. My role is to help you make sense of what you're experiencing, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and support you in making changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.

Whether you are experiencing a specific mental health difficulty, struggling with something that has happened in your past, or simply feel that life isn't currently where you would like it to be, therapy can provide an opportunity to understand what is happening and work towards feeling differently. Please do reach out to me to have an initial consultation so we can make a collaborative plan to see how I can support you.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
