Psychotherapist and Registered Psychotherapist

(MA)

I am an Accredited Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist. For over ten years, I have worked in the NHS, educational settings, and private practice, helping children, adolescents, and adults recover from emotional difficulties such as attachment issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD and the impact of adverse experiences/trauma including developmental trauma.

My professional qualifications are a Master's degree in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust) and EMDR-UK accreditation. Professional development includes attachment, neuroscience, family and systemic interventions, internal family systems, mindfulness and CBT. These approaches inform my work, and I tailor my practice based on individual needs and preferences. With young clients, I use a non-directive play-based approach and involve parents/carers within/alongside the work.

Research shows that adverse childhood experiences, distress and trauma (including historical and inter-generational) can affect development, behaviour, functioning (including learning), and a person's general ability to engage with and appreciate relationships and life. I am committed to supporting individuals who have experienced mental distress and parents/carers concerned about their child’s symptoms/behaviours. My approach is culturally sensitive, compassionate, and supportive of people facing challenges related to self-esteem, identity, oppression and prejudice such as neurodivergent people and individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+.

To promote accessibility, I apply sliding scale fees, please enquire.

For UK based clients I am a registered provider with Aviva, Aetna, Cigna, Vitality and Ever-North.

In addition to Psychotherapy, I offer clinical supervision to counsellors/psychotherapists registered or working towards registration with the BPC, BACP and BPF.

I am currently available to offer online sessions in English or Italian to international clients from Mondays to Fridays with some flexibility on appointment times. I encourage you to book a free telephone/video consultation or email me any questions.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
