Craft a part-time private practice that fits your life—and let Mentalzon help motivated clients find you. We’re a discovery and referral platform for licensed psychologists who want flexibility, clinical autonomy, and a steady stream of client inquiries without giving up control of fees, schedule, or modality. See clients online using your own HIPAA-appropriate telehealth tools (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom), in your own office, or both.

Important: Mentalzon does not host video sessions or store audio/video. You deliver care using your own secure telehealth platform(s) or in person at your office.

Role overview

Provide evidence-based psychotherapy within your competencies to adults, couples, families, or adolescents. Complete thoughtful intakes and ongoing assessments, keep timely documentation in your own EHR/practice system, communicate clearly about your approach, boundaries, fees, and policies, and uphold the highest legal and ethical standards.

Why this is ideal for part-time clinicians

  • True flexibility: Start with as little as 3–10 hours/week and scale up or down as needed.
  • You’re in charge: Set your availability, caseload, specialties, and modalities.
  • Your fees, your clients: Get paid directly by clients—no platform commission on session fees.
  • Built-in visibility: Mentalzon marketing and search boost help the right clients discover you.
  • Professional reputation: Collect verified reviews to strengthen your profile.
  • Tech freedom: Use your preferred telehealth, EHR, and workflows.

Required qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD) from a regionally accredited program; supervised experience aligned with state requirements.
  • Current, active, unrestricted license to practice independently as a psychologist in at least one U.S. state or D.C. (e.g., Licensed Psychologist, LP). You are responsible for complying with all state telehealth rules in any state where you provide services.
  • Demonstrated experience with clinical assessment, diagnosis (as permitted by scope), and psychotherapy for diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with your own HIPAA-appropriate telehealth tools (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom) and familiarity with EHR/practice-management workflows.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
  • Active professional liability (malpractice) insurance.

Nice to have

  • Depth in CBT, ACT, ERP, EMDR, EFT, DBT-informed work, health psychology/behavioral medicine, trauma, OCD, mood and anxiety disorders, child/adolescent, or couples therapy.
  • Cultural humility, multilingual ability, and PSYPACT participation or eligibility for multistate telepsychology.

Collaboration terms

  • Status: Independent Contractor (1099).
  • Setting: Remote from a secure, professional environment; optional in-person sessions at your office.
  • Schedule: Part-time by design—set and adjust your weekly hours freely.
  • Autonomy: You manage your calendar, documentation, policies, and platforms.
  • Billing: Direct client payments; you control fee schedules and refunds.
  • Privacy: Maintain PHI in your own compliant systems; Mentalzon is not an EHR and does not host sessions.

How to get started

  1. Create your Mentalzon profile with education, license(s), specialties, and modalities.
  2. Upload licensure and degree documents for verification.
  3. Іet availability, communication preferences, and rates.
  4. Begin receiving inquiries or booking requests and manage care directly—via your telehealth tools or your office.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
