  • Professional Record-Keeping: Maintain concise, confidential, and timely client records in full compliance with GDPR, HCPC guidelines, and the ethical framework of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Ethical & Professional Conduct: Adhere strictly to the professional standards and code of ethics set forth by the HCPC and the BPS. Ensure all practice complies with UK law governing mental health and data protection.
  • Independent Practice Management: Manage all aspects of your client relationships, including scheduling, clear communication of your therapeutic approach, confidentiality, practice policies, and fee structures.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Must hold a Doctorate or Master's level qualification in a relevant field of applied psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology) from a recognised university.
  • Professional Registration: Crucially, you must have current and unrestricted registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing psychological assessment and therapy in a clinical or counselling context.
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must hold and maintain your own active professional indemnity insurance that covers your scope of practice, including both in-person and remote therapy.
  • Knowledge of UK Regulations: A strong working knowledge of GDPR, data protection laws, and the legal and ethical guidelines governing private psychology practice in the United Kingdom.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Excellent skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
    • A high degree of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
    • Strong organisational and time-management skills suited to independent practice.
    • A firm commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).

What Mentalzon Offers You:

  • Status: You will operate as a Self-Employed / Independent Practitioner.
  • Complete Autonomy: You retain full control over your caseload, choice of therapeutic modalities (within evidence-based practice), and all practice policies.
  • Unrivalled Flexibility: Set your own schedule and decide your availability. Work full-time, part-time, or supplement your existing income.
  • Local & Remote Practice: Attract clients for face-to-face sessions in your Liverpool practice or offer your services remotely to clients across the UK (in line with professional guidelines).
  • Control Your Income: You establish your own professional fees. Clients pay you directly—Mentalzon takes no commission from your session rates.
  • Client Referrals: Gain visibility and connect with a steady stream of potential clients actively seeking psychological support through the Mentalzon platform.
  • Focus on Clinical Work: We handle the marketing to attract clients to the platform, allowing you to minimise administrative tasks and focus on providing excellent care.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
