Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychological Therapy & Consultation: Provide expert, evidence-based psychological therapy to individuals, couples, or families. Services can be delivered through face-to-face sessions in your Glasgow practice or via a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform.
  • Psychological Assessment & Formulation: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, develop collaborative clinical formulations, and create tailored intervention plans that align with client goals and evidence-based practice.
  • Record Keeping & Confidentiality: Maintain precise, timely, and confidential client records in strict accordance with HCPC standards, GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the ethical codes of the BPS.
  • Ethical & Professional Standards: Adhere rigorously to the ethical frameworks and codes of conduct set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Practice Management: Professionally manage all aspects of client engagement, including scheduling, clear communication of your therapeutic approach, confidentiality terms, fees, and practice policies.
  • Direct Fee Management: You establish your own professional rates for therapy and manage all billing and payments directly with your clients.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Doctorate or Master's level degree in a relevant field of Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology) from an accredited institution, qualifying for registration with the HCPC.
  • Registration: Crucially, you must hold a current and active registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This includes titles such as Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
  • Chartership: Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing psychological therapy and assessment within a clinical context.
  • Legal & Ethical Knowledge: A strong working knowledge of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, ICO guidelines, and the professional standards governing psychological practice in the UK.
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance: You must maintain an active professional indemnity insurance policy that covers your scope of practice, including both in-person and remote therapy.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.
    • Excellent ability to build therapeutic rapport.
    • High levels of professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
