Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychological Therapy & Counselling: Provide expert individual, couples, or family therapy services (commensurate with your specific registration, training, and expertise) via secure, confidential video conferencing and/or in-person sessions within Manchester.
  • Clinical Assessment & Formulation: Conduct thorough psychological assessments, formulate diagnoses where appropriate and within your scope of practice, and develop collaborative, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to client needs and goals.
  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), professional body requirements (e.g., BPS, HCPC), and ethical standards pertinent to your professional registration.
  • Ethical & Legal Practice: Adhere strictly to the professional code of ethics corresponding to your specific registration (e.g., BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct), all applicable regulatory body standards (e.g., HCPC), and UK laws governing mental health practice and telehealth.
  • Client Communication: Manage client communications effectively and professionally, including scheduling, responding to inquiries, and clearly explaining your therapeutic approach, confidentiality, fees, and practice policies.
  • Direct Fee Management: Establish your professional fees for therapy services and manage the billing and payment process directly with your clients.

Requirements:

  • Education: Possess a recognised Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology) from an accredited institution.
  • Registration: Crucially, hold current, active, and unrestricted registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Independent Practice Status: Your HCPC registration must permit you to practice independently without supervision.
  • Telehealth Competency: Proficiency in utilising secure, confidential video conferencing platforms and electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems. Understanding of telehealth best practices and ethics in a UK context.
  • Experience: Demonstrated post-registration experience providing psychological assessment and/or therapy services.
  • Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of data protection laws (e.g., GDPR), UK mental health legislation, and the ethical code applicable to HCPC registered Psychologists.
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Must maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance covering your scope of practice, including both in-person and telehealth services.
