Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychological Therapy & Counselling: Provide expert psychological services to individuals, couples, or families, in line with your AHPRA registration, scope of practice, and clinical expertise. Services can be delivered via secure telehealth platforms or in-person at your Sydney practice location.
  • Clinical Assessment & Treatment Formulation: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, formulate evidence-based treatment plans, and collaboratively set therapeutic goals with clients.
  • Clinical Record Keeping: Maintain precise, timely, and confidential client records in strict accordance with the standards set by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the APS Code of Ethics.
  • Ethical & Professional Conduct: Adhere rigorously to the APS Code of Ethics, all guidelines and regulations stipulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the PsyBA, and relevant state and federal laws governing psychological practice in Australia.
  • Practice Management: Independently manage all aspects of client engagement, including scheduling, professional communication, and clearly outlining your therapeutic approach, confidentiality policies, and fee structure.

Essential Requirements:

  • Registration: Must hold current, unrestricted general or specialist registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Education: Possess a Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology (e.g., Clinical, Counselling, Educational & Developmental) from an accredited university, meeting the requirements for registration with the PsyBA.
  • Practice Status: Must be eligible to practice independently as a psychologist in a private practice setting.
  • Experience: Demonstrated post-registration experience in providing psychological assessment and therapy.
  • Telehealth Competence: Proficiency in using secure video conferencing technology for therapeutic purposes and familiarity with the AHPRA/PsyBA guidelines for telehealth.
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must maintain current professional indemnity insurance that covers your full scope of practice, including telehealth services.
  • Business Details: Must hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN) as an independent contractor or sole trader.
