Your Role as a Partnering Psychologist:

  • Clinical Service Delivery: Deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Your scope of practice is defined by your license, training, and clinical expertise.
  • Psychological Assessment & Treatment Strategy: Utilize your deep clinical acumen to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, formulate diagnoses where appropriate, and collaboratively develop individualized treatment plans that align with client goals.
  • Professional Documentation: Ensure all clinical documentation is meticulously maintained in a timely, confidential, and professional manner, adhering to HIPAA, APA ethical standards, and Illinois state regulations.
  • Ethical and Legal Adherence: Strictly uphold the highest standards of the APA Code of Ethics, state and federal laws governing the practice of psychology and telehealth (including inter-state practice regulations), and all IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation) requirements.
  • Independent Practice Management: Independently manage all client communications, scheduling, and inquiries. You will establish and clearly communicate your practice policies, therapeutic approach, and confidentiality limits directly with your clients.
  • Direct Fee Administration: Set your own professional service fees and manage all billing and payment processes directly with your clients.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: A doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Licensure: A current, active, and unrestricted license as a Clinical Psychologist issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Your license must permit independent practice without the need for clinical supervision.
  • Experience: Proven post-licensure experience in providing psychotherapy and psychological services. Experience in a private practice setting is highly valued.
  • Telehealth Proficiency: Demonstrated competence in using HIPAA-compliant video conferencing technologies and managing electronic health records (EHR). A strong understanding of telehealth ethics and best practices is required.
  • Professional Liability: Must maintain a robust professional liability (malpractice) insurance policy that covers your full scope of practice, including telehealth services.
  • Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA, Illinois mental health laws, and the APA ethical code.

The Mentalzon Advantage for Your Chicago Practice:

  • Full Practice Autonomy: You are the expert. Maintain complete control over your therapeutic modalities, client caseload, and practice philosophy.
  • Absolute Schedule Flexibility: Design a work schedule that fits your life. Offer sessions full-time, part-time, or just a few hours a week to supplement your income.
  • Expand Your Reach: Connect with clients throughout Chicago—from the Loop to Lincoln Park, Hyde Park to Wicker Park—and across Illinois (in compliance with state telehealth laws), all from your preferred location.
  • Full Financial Control: Set your own competitive rates. Clients pay you directly. Mentalzon does not take any commission or percentage of your session fees. Your earning potential is in your hands.
  • No Upfront Costs: It is completely free to create a profile and list your practice on Mentalzon.
  • Build Your Digital Reputation: Leverage our platform to ethically gather client feedback and build a strong professional profile that attracts your ideal clients.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
