Psychotherapist and Registered Psychotherapist

(MA)

My name is Duygu Kaya, and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with specialized training in trauma healing. I have experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, social anxiety, panic attacks, sleep difficulties, and insomnia. I also understand the emotional challenges that can come with starting over in a new country, finding a sense of belonging, and adjusting to an unfamiliar culture and way of life.

I believe that healing begins when we feel safe enough to show up as we are, without the pressure to have everything figured out. In our work together, I hope to offer a space where you can take a breath, feel understood, and explore what has been weighing on you at your own pace. You don't need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start wherever you are.

I recognize that our experiences, relationships, and the ways we have learned to protect ourselves can shape how we see the world and relate to ourselves and others. Sometimes, the very things that once helped us get through difficult times can become patterns that leave us feeling stuck. Together, we can gently explore these experiences, make sense of your emotions, and find ways to respond to life's challenges with greater understanding and self-compassion.

My approach is guided by empathy, curiosity, and respect for your individual story. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Instead, I value getting to know you as a person, understanding what matters to you, and working collaboratively toward changes that feel meaningful in your life.

Above all, I hope you leave our sessions feeling a little less alone, more connected to yourself, and more hopeful about what is possible. You don't have to have everything figured out to take the first step. Sometimes, beginning simply means allowing yourself the space to be heard, understood, and supported.

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
