Social Worker
Hi! I am Brandy Compton and I am a bilingual English and Spanish speaking therapist. I have experience working with children, teens, adults, families, and BIPOC from a diverse range of socioeconomic statuses.
I also have experience working with gender non-conforming and transgender individuals. I have helped clients overcome life challenges in the following areas: adjusting to life transitions (starting a new job, starting at a new school or college, graduating High School, re-entering the community after incarceration), coping with loss and grief, managing and coping with symptoms and behaviors impacting everyday life, relationships, strained parent child dynamics and overcoming past traumatic events.
Additionally I have seen success in treatment working with clients with the following diagnoses: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) , Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Adjustment Disorders.
I am trained in Functional Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational interviewing and counseling multicultural communities.
I view the individual as part of a family system that is part of a larger community system and I help clients understand how this impacts social & emotional well being. By healing relationships and challenging limiting beliefs imposed by society, I believe clients will achieve the healing they deserve. My approach is to lead with empathy and warmth and tailor my approach based on each client so I can do my best to meet each client where they are at.
My goal is that you feel safe and free to show up as you are. I also invite feedback and hope creating this space will allow you, the client, to be able to do that when needed. I look forward to meeting and working with you! My education background includes a Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles, with an area of focus in Social & Economic Justice.
