Z. Hamilton Avery, LCSW, BC-TMH, CMT, CYT-1,000, TIYT (he/they) is a therapist, social worker, health educator, and integrative wellness professional with more than 15 years of experience providing care and support. Z holds an associate's degree in pre-nursing studies, a bachelor's degree in psychology, and a master's degree in social work along with extensive interdisciplinary training and certifications spanning mental health, trauma and crisis care, telebehavioral health, complementary and integrative health, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and body-based approaches.
Z specializes in working with adolescents (13+) and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illness, suicidal ideation, and other mental health concerns. His experience spans outpatient therapy, community mental health, healthcare, primary care, hospice, mobile crisis services, schools, nonprofit organizations, and crisis response.
Z takes a humanistic, person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and integrative approach to therapy. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to care, he draws from cognitive, behavioral, somatic, expressive, and mindfulness-based interventions to meet each client's individual needs, preferences, strengths, values, and goals. His work is grounded in compassion, harm reduction, inclusivity, social justice, and evidence-based care, with an emphasis on practical skills clients can carry into everyday life.
