Christine Gatzke is a bilingual (English/French) registered psychotherapist providing individual, family/couple, group, career counselling/coaching, life coaching, and EAP/EFAP services in-person, telephonically, and online-e-counselling. Obtained her M.Ed. in Counselling, she received post-graduate training in Gestalt Psychotherapy via the Gestalt Institute of Ottawa. In 2015, Christine obtained her second Master's degree in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan.

 

She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and CISM/D (Critical Incident Stress Management/Debriefing). Trained in Somatic Experiencing (SEP), and Expressive Arts Therapies. In addition, Christine is certified in working with Children and Families via the Hincks-Dellcrest Institute in Toronto. Christine specializes and is trained in Adoption, Adoption Reunion and Foster Care Counselling, via The Carlini Institute and Algonquin College.

 

Christine obtained her Dyadic Development Psychotherapy Certification (for attachment issues [RAD], behavioral difficulties, trauma) with Dr. Daniel Hughes. She is certified in Infertility Counselling via Tape Educational Services and is a Certified Life and Career Coach via the Certified Coaches Federation, now working towards accreditation with International Coaches Federation (ICF).

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process.
