The power of 1%
I know the mind is extremely powerful, so why not use it to create changes in the body? As a person living with MS, I'm always looking for ways to improve how I think to help me get back to wellness.
I came across an interesting strategy recently in James Clear's book "Atomic Habits". (Clear, 2018) In his book he talks about the power of 1%. It means doing small things better every day by 1%. His research proves that it has a huge impact, if practices consistently, over months and years. (Growth Faculty, 2023)
Personally, I have already found that if I introduce positive additions to the way I think and things I do, I notice a difference.
In what way?
To start with, I discovered a playlist called, "Tranquil Flute" on Alexa. I've found that if I light a candle and listen to that playlist, it really helps settle my mind.
Additionally, I avoid watching violence and cruelty on TV. In short, anything that is vexatious to my mind, body and spirit. Consequently, I'm calmer and I can concentrate on healing.
