Trying to Choose Between Acupuncture and Cupping — What’s Your Take?

Hey folks,
I’ve been dealing with some ongoing pain and stress, and I’m thinking of trying something outside of regular meds. Two options that keep popping up are acupuncture and cupping — but I’m not sure which one to go for first.

Have any of you tried either (or both)?

  • Which worked better for you?

  • Was it worth the time and money?

  • Anything weird or unexpected happen?

I’m not looking for miracle cures, just honest experiences. Even if it didn’t work out, I’d still love to hear about it. Maybe your story will help me (and others) figure out what to expect.

Thanks in advance!

Hey! I’ve actually tried both acupuncture and cupping, so I totally get where you’re coming from. I was also on the hunt for something that could help with stress and chronic body pain without relying on medication all the time.

For me, acupuncture was a great first step. It helped calm my nervous system, and over a few sessions, I noticed reduced anxiety and better sleep. It’s super relaxing — you just lie there with the tiny needles in, and it’s surprisingly peaceful. No real pain, just a weird “tingly” feeling sometimes.

Cupping, on the other hand, was amazing for muscle tension. I get a lot of tightness in my shoulders and back, and after a cupping session, I felt so much looser. The marks look intense, but they don’t hurt — they fade after a few days.

If I had to choose just one to start with, I’d recommend acupuncture first because it treats both physical and emotional stress at once. But honestly, both therapies worked well for different things.

And yes — it’s definitely worth the time and money, especially if you find the right practitioner. I go to Infinity Wellness MD, and their team has been super supportive. They really explain everything and personalize the treatment, which helped ease my nerves as a first-timer.

Nothing super weird happened — just felt a little tired after the first acupuncture session (which is apparently normal), and had some mild cupping marks. But overall, a positive experience!

Hope this helps you decide. Feel free to ask more questions — happy to share!

If you are considering psychotherapy but do not know where to start, a free initial consultation is the perfect first step. It will allow you to explore your options, ask questions, and feel more confident about taking the first step towards your well-being.

It is a 30-minute, completely free meeting with a Mental Health specialist that does not obligate you to anything.

What are the benefits of a free consultation?

Who is a free consultation suitable for?

Important:

Potential benefits of a free initial consultation

During this first session: potential clients have the chance to learn more about you and your approach before agreeing to work together.

Offering a free consultation will help you build trust with the client. It shows them that you want to give them a chance to make sure you are the right person to help them before they move forward. Additionally, you should also be confident that you can support your clients and that the client has problems that you can help them cope with. Also, you can avoid any ethical difficult situations about charging a client for a session in which you choose not to proceed based on fit.

We've found that people are more likely to proceed with therapy after a free consultation, as it lowers the barrier to starting the process. Many people starting therapy are apprehensive about the unknown, even if they've had sessions before. Our culture associates a "risk-free" mindset with free offers, helping people feel more comfortable during the initial conversation with a specialist.

Another key advantage for Specialist

Specialists offering free initial consultations will be featured prominently in our upcoming advertising campaign, giving you greater visibility.

It's important to note that the initial consultation differs from a typical therapy session:
