How can I control overthinking

Blog | Mental disorder

Some people are plagued with a constant barrage of thoughts all the time. If you are an overthinker, you might notice that you conjure up disastrous images, too , and your mind resemble a movie of what going to happen.

Today I'm going through some tips that might help you to overcome this problem.

1- I need you to think of what is the pattern that is always happening, making you fall under the waves of overthinking. Think of people, places or things that trigger overthinking.

2- Make a space or a corner in your apartment for relaxation. Put something good to smell, piano music to hear, and if you can a pot of any natural green plant.

3- Think of who you can talk to when you're down. Someone who really loves you and you trust his/her opinion.

4- Practice mindfulness daily: Dedicate a few minutes each day to mindfulness exercises, such as deep breathing or meditation. Focus on being present in the moment to quiet your mind.

5- Challenge negative thoughts: When negative thoughts arise, question their validity. Ask yourself for evidence supporting these thoughts and consider alternative, more positive perspectives.

6- Take breaks from news or social media when needed

7- Cultivate gratitude regularly: Each day, take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life.

8- Keep a gratitude journal or simply reflect on things you're thankful for.

9- Separating thoughts and feelings. All thoughts come from a feeling and feelings are unavoidable. Learning to name thoughts as thoughts and let them pass (or decide how much attentiont you want to give them).

10- Think of what can go right instead of what can go wrong.

I pray for you, who's reading the article to feel good and at peace.

Have a great day
