Learning to Love Myself

Blog | Mental health

I have a crazy schedule this week. Came home completely exhausted for my own therapy session.

Wrapped myself in a blanket, made some tea, and exhaled for the first time today. I talked to my therapist about self-love. Such an overused topic, yet so important—one that lies at the core of many other issues, whether it's relationships or self-fulfillment.

I used to know how to love myself only through money and didn’t understand how it could be done differently.

But loving yourself differently means:
- Valuing your desires.
- Respecting your thoughts, no matter what they are.
- Choosing the “right” people to be around.
- Accepting the consequences of your choices instead of blaming yourself for what you could have done differently.
- Feeling and listening to yourself.
- Exercising not to make your body appealing to someone else, but to feel comfortable in it.

Self-love is coming home exhausted, setting aside an hour for therapy, finally exhaling and relaxing, processing everything that’s happening, and reflecting on your life.

It seems like now I know how to love myself. Gonna make myself another cup of tea and spend time with someone dear to me.
